    Oxygen Advantage Breathing Methods

    Breathing isn’t optional- it’s essential. 


    Something essential to life that we haven’t ever been taught how to do… properly. Yet the effect of functional and then optimal breathing (natural breathing) is both powerful and profound: reduces inflammation, reduces physical tension, improves exercise and sport, improves sleep, and even has a positive effect on dental health. 


    We provide instruction to two types of people: regular folks and athletes. We adjust the focus to suit you, but for both we start by building a good respiratory foundation- also known as functional breathing.


    Science and Oxygen Advantage have studied the human breathing  mechanism and, based on research, identified the optimal way to breathe, at rest (daily life), and during increased physical workloads- exercise and high intensity sport. It is not meditation or yoga. It is a functional biomechanical breathing method.


    Functional breathing is light, slow, deep and Nasal. It makes full use of the breathing muscles- with every breath you take. 


    If you find yourself frequently sighing or holding your breath and gassing out (at rest and training), have poor sleep, cold hands and feet you probably have a dysfunctional breathing pattern (even if you are physically fit).

    We look at all this and get your breathing patterns back on track. 



    So what do we do here at Highland Breathing Initiative and how can that help you?


    We use the Oxygen Advantage method of breathing - we introduce you to the two pillars of functional breathing: Nasal Breathing and Simulated Altitude Training.


    You will learn about your respiratory system, and the critical role of CO2. You will understand the anatomy of your breathing muscles and breathing exercises that get you engaging those muscles for all your breathing.


    We show you how to integrate the breathing protocols into your daily life and how to introduce them to your sports training, to start reaping the rewards of more effective breathing and a more oxygenated body.
